1/2-cup lukewarm water 1 pkg. of dry yeast Mix well and add: 2 cups lukewarm water 1 Tbs. sugar 1 Tbs. salt 2 cups flour Mix well, cover and let stand for 5 days in a warm place. Stir the mixture several times a day. To keep, place in a container (other than metal) and refrigerate. Can be used with any sour dough recipe. NOTE: The most important thing to remember about sourdough starter is to put the starter out and allow it to work for at least four hours before use. Every time you use your starter, replenish it with equal parts of warm water and flour. Use your starter often. |
